Board of Directors|
The activities of CWDC are facilitated by our diverse and dedicated board of directors. They provide fiduciary oversight, guide program planning, and contribute hours of work directly implementing performances and other CWDC events.
Jean W. Thiel is engaged in commercial property management. She was formerly employed as a paralegal in the commercial real estate practice group at Faegre & Benson LLP. Jean served as President of the Board of Directors of CWDC from 1994-2004. She is a past member of the Southwest High School Leadership Council and the Southdale YMCA Board of Management. She is a former member of the Linden Hills Neighborhood Council Commercial Business/Commercial Property Committee and several Neighborhood Revitalization Program (“NRP”) committees and projects.
Christopher Watson, Ph.D. has been dancing and choreographing professionally since receiving his MFA in dance from the University of Michigan. He trained at the Merce Cunningham Studio and Joffrey Ballet School in New York and has danced with companies in Chicago, New York, Detroit, Minneapolis, Sacramento and San Francisco. As a presenter, Christopher has produced theater, music and dance concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as the Twin Cities Metro Area. For the past 25 years he has worked in higher education. Currently he is a research associate for the Center for Early Education and Development at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
Sandy Grossman returned to Minnesota in 2010 after 32 years in Chicago, where she pursued an interesting life. She received her B.A. in theater from the University of Minnesota. She has wide-ranging interests in the arts, and first fell in love with dance when she saw Lorand Andahazy leap from a platform while performing in Scheherazade.
Raymond Terrill (651-690-0404) is a project/curriculum manager, working on the development computer-based training programs, interactive kiosks, promotional sales CD-ROMs, business to business web sites and broadband applications. Clients range from telecommunications to companies specializing in cardiovascular medical treatments. A resident of Minnesota since 1996, Mr. Terrill was executive director of the Dance Coalition of Oregon from 1993-96 and has been active as a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and presenter of dance for a number of years.
Matthew Thiel (612.270.3962) currently works for James R. Hill, Inc., in the field of Land Surveying, and is pursuing his professional license as a land surveyor. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Christopher Watson Dance Company since 1996. In addition, Mr. Thiel has served as president and a board of director for a local Twin Cities Lions Club, whose goal is improving local communities through volunteer service.
CWDC is thankful for the contributions made by former board members, all of whom have donated time and monetary support to CWDC throughout the years.
