Since its founding in 1991, the Christopher Watson Dance Company has performed in Sacramento, San Francisco, Berkeley, and Davis, California; Kenosha, Wisconsin; Ames, Iowa; as well as Duluth, Ely, Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. CWDC has performed throughout the Twin Cities participating in Choreographers Evening at the Walker Arts Center, Isolated Acts a Red Eye Collaboration, the Minnesota Dance Festival at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium, and at the Hennepin Center for the Arts, Ballet Arts Minnesota, SpaceSpace, Intermedia Arts, the Southern Theater, Concordia University, the Lyn-Lake Festival, and the Seward Arts Festival.

The Christopher Watson Dance Company presents the 10th Annual Dances at the Lakes Festival - two FREE concerts in the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, June 10 and 11. This unique festival brings together professional dancers and youth companies performing a wide variety of concert dance styles. This year the festival features nearly 100 dancers performing in the 14 dance groups performing in the two shows. Audience members are invited to bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks or a picnic dinner and enjoy the unique opportunity of seeing dance performed in the beautiful setting of the Rose Garden.

2/12/2010 to 2/14/2010One Long Right Now
The Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC) will perform the premiere of One Long Right Now, a concert of new and repertory dance works, Friday through Sunday, February 12-14, 2010 at Patrick?s Cabaret, 3010 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis. Seating is very limited for this concert. Performances are at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $15 at the door ($10 for children, students and seniors ages 65+) and may be reserved by calling 612.961.8639.

The concert will include three repertory dance pieces spanning 13 years of creative work, in addition to the premiere of One Long Right Now. New company members Jeremy Bensussan and Jill Patterson join Christopher Watson and returning CWDC dancers Megan Bridges, Bryan Gerber, Una Setia and Galen Treuer for this concert.

Patrick?s Cabaret is located at 3010 Minnehaha Avenue near the corner of Lake Street in South Minneapolis - look for the rainbow flag on top of the building. The Cabaret provides bike racks and encourages people to move their bodies while helping the environment. Patrick?s is very near the Lake Street / Midtown light rail station, and is on the 7, 21, 27, and 53 bus routes. Parking options include the parking lot on the north side of the building next to the police station, the parking lot on the south side of the building, and ample street parking.

Two FREE performances of dance and music will enliven the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20, 2009, presented by the Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC). The program includes a combination of professional dancers and youth companies. "The young dancers really appreciate the opportunity to dance on a program with seasoned professionals," says festival director Christopher Watson. "And audiences love the combination of rising young talents and mature professional performers."

The festival has gained a loyal audience over the years. Watson encourages people to "come with friends and family, bring a lawn chair or blanket and some snacks or a picnic dinner to make it a celebration. Come out of the cold for dance, music, dessert and good conversation! Warm up with chocolate cake, a tango, and a cha cha!

The Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC) will host Dance and Desserts, an informal showing of new and repertory dance works with guest artists on Sunday, February 10 from 2-4 pm at Ballareteatro Center for Performing Arts, 4259 Minnehaha Avenue, Minneapolis. A buffet of luscious desserts and beverages will be served in the lobby. A lively variety of dance styles are featured in the performance: cha cha, tango, modern dance and "a touch of sass." Dance & Desserts will feature "Cha Cha," premiered by CWDC last summer at Dances at the Lakes in Minneapolis; a "tango-ish" duet by Gerry Girouard and Diane Aldis; Ray Terrill's "Remembrance/You Were Loved" with music by Thomas Newman; Sarah La Roses's popular dance piece "a Touch of Sass," and a new work by David Wick with live music by Jane Anfinson. Performers include: CWDC dancers Diane Aldis, Megan Bridges, Jodi Collova, Bryan Gerber, Gerry Girouard, Sarah LaRose-Holland, Christopher Watson, & David Wick and guest performers Aurora Dance, Irruption, Kinetic Evolutions, & Ray Terrill Dance Group.

A free concert of dance and live music will delight visitors to the Rose Garden at Lake Harriet on Saturday, July 8 at 7 PM. The fifth annual Dances at the Lakes Festival is an outdoor dance and music event presented by the Christopher Watson Dance Company (CWDC) that showcases dance works created and performed by professional artists and young dancers from a variety of Minnesota communities. In celebration of the 5th Anniversary of Dances at the Lakes (and the 10th anniversary of its sister festival Dances on the Lakewalk held in Duluth) CWDC will remount Kiss the Rain, their critically acclaimed piece from 2001.

Also performing in Dances at the Lakes are Kinetic Evolutions, Minneapolis; Bryan Gerber, Mankato; Michelle Kriner, Muncie, Indiana; Ressl Dance, Duluth; Sterling Dance, Grand Marais; Ray Terrill and Dancers, St. Paul; Young Dance, Minneapolis; Youth Dance Ensemble, Burnsville; David Wick, Jonesboro, Arkansas; and Christopher Watson Dance Company, Minneapolis.

Live music by Jane Anfinson, Dave Hagedorn, Dave Schmalenberger, and James Weber.

Dancers from CWDC will be the guests of Dance Exchange for a two-week residency Sept. 23-Oct. 6 at a farm in rural France. The cooperatively owned farm features a barn converted to a dance studio and residential buildings. Dance Exchange is an organization directed by Australian choreographer Russel Dumas, who co-owns the farm in Larret. Artists Sarah Rudner (USA), Jaap Flier (Netherlands), Ulla Koivisto (Finland), and Mary Prestige (England) are among those who have worked at Larret. CWDC will continue work on a new dance piece for performance later in the 2004-2005 season.
